Sweet and Sustainable Singletrack (SST) with a crew of 9 hardworking men spent the past 2.5 weeks hammering out a new trail to be completed by about September 1st. This trail incorporates ledges and big rock-drops heretofore unseen in the RAT system and will not welcome any unwilling or unskilled riders. Beware, all you puny little RATS, of the Exterminator. It's technical, it's extreme and it's coming for you!!
On August 30th, SST started work on an extension of Ratical that will connect with Plague Ground not far below where Plague Ground currently peels away from Double Crosser. The SST crew will likely continue building until sometime in November. Then, on September 6th, a crew of 9 from the Southwest Conservation Corps (SCC) will arrive to double the manpower and the output for 8 weeks. This will be our third consecutive year hosting SCC and these kids exemplify hard work, determination and enthusiasm. Please keep your eyes open for workers, tools and detours - and for big changes totaling 8 miles of new trail in the next couple of months.
