CPW Non-Motorized Recreational Trail Grand Update

February 1, 2016
Colorado Parks & Wildlife Non-Motorized Recreational Trail Grant Update!

Colorado Parks & Wildlife (CPW) released the 2016 Non-Motorized Recreational Trail Grant scores and recommendations for funding. The GREAT news is the COPMOBA Regional Trails Large Construction Grant (Ridgway Trails Project and Spring Creek Trail Connectors) is recommended for FULL funding of $200,000! The bad news is the COPMOBA Uncompahgre Singletrack Planning Grant is not recommended for funding.

There are two more steps in the process before grants are actually awarded. The initial funding recommendations have to be agreed upon by CPW as their “Funding Strategy” for the year at a meeting to be held on Friday, January 29th. The “Final Funding Approval” meeting is then scheduled for March 9-10.

While we are disappointed the Planning Grant is not recommended for the Uncompahgre Chapter, we will continue to work with land mangers to improve the project scope and seek funding again in the future.

We are pleased The Montrose West Recreation, Inc. Paradox Trail Reroute Small Construction grant is also recommended for funding.

Thank you for your support and we will continue to provide updates as the grant process continues!
