We Rely on Passionate & Skilled Individuals

COPMOBA is a volunteer-driven organization that relies on individuals who are passionate, skilled, and willing to devote their time to advocate for, create, and maintain trails. There are many different types of skills and actions required to accomplish these tasks, and it is much more than just digging in the dirt. Typically, ten hours or more of work are needed for every hour spent building a trail. COPMOBA values a diverse set of skills, such as social activity planning, graphic design, budgeting and management, trail construction, and workshop leading.

If you have any of these skills, your time and energy are much appreciated in furthering our mission.

Trail Build & Maintenance Days

Many volunteers with COPMOBA opt to participate in a “Dig Day,” designed to help with trail construction or maintenance efforts. Volunteers can expect to spend time in the field with a trained Crew Leader who will safely lead and organize the Dig Day event. What to bring will vary based on the time of year, event and location objectives, and other factors. For all Dig Day, plan on bringing work gloves (bike gloves also work!), closed-toe shoes or boots, and plenty of snacks and water. During the summer months, long pants, a sun shirt, and a hat are also essential items. COPMOBA will provide all the necessary tools for the event.

Generally, Dig Days that take place over the weekend tend to be longer (e.g., half-day minimum) and lend themselves nicely to bigger projects or projects that are further away from trailheads. Events during the week will vary in length but typically are 2-4 hours and are constrained by daylight.

Check out our calendar for upcoming Dig Day events.
