The Colorado Plateau Mountain Bike Trail Association (COPMOBA) is fundamentally a community in action. COPMOBA is riders, trail users, and people who care about the land upon which we tread - working together to create a profound sense of place, home, and experience that speaks deeply to our many needs and wants and sense of community. COPMOBA accomplishes this work through decades-long consistent and responsible effort in our communities by sharing information, reaching out to our neighbors, gathering and marshaling information and resources, and engaging and respecting partners, all to create and maintain trails that help to connect us directly to land upon which we live.
COPMOBA is a member-supported, nonprofit organization of volunteer mountain bikers that advocate for mountain biking in western Colorado by building and maintaining sustainable singletrack in connection with our communities.
We aim to be the preeminent rider-driven mountain biking trail organization in Colorado by providing outstanding recreational opportunities and positive impact on the communities we serve.
Our core values that support our purpose and will help guide us toward our vision:
Access and Inclusivity – We help provide more access to mountain bike trails that are open, inclusive, and accessible to all.
Build – We create new, high-quality and sustainable singletrack.
Maintain – We help repair, modify and serve as a steward to existing mountain bike trails.
Community – We connect riders, businesses, nonprofit organizations and government partners to improve our local communities.
Educate – We promote responsible trail use to increase community participation and stewardship of the landscape.
Preserve – We protect the rider experience for non-motorized mountain bike trail use in concert with environmental stewardship and improved accessibility.
Awareness – We provide a clear understanding of COPMOBA’s organizational goals and the community benefits of trails.
We rely on membership funds, volunteers, and grants.
Although our Chapters work with local land management agencies and user groups, we do not represent them—we represent our trails and users.
Our vast trail network is located primarily within the geologic boundary of the Colorado Plateau in Western Colorado and portions of eastern Utah.
Although we advocate for and maintain many miles of doubletrack trail within our region, we build singletrack mountain bike trails.
Although many miles of trail in our region have motorized access, we advocate for non-motorized singletrack mountain bike trails.
We responsibly build sustainable singletrack mountain bike trails to suit the terrain and intended skill level.
Although we design and build trails with mountain bikers in mind, our trails are primarily multi-use trails.
We build singletrack mountain bike trails for all skill levels, from beginner to advanced, without prejudice.
We facilitate events for youth and adults that teach trail ethics and encourage participation in mountain biking and trail building. Kids are our future trail users and trail advocates.
