COPMOBA’s 2024 Annual Report

COPMOBA’s 2024 Annual Report is here!

A YEAR OF PROGRESS AND GRATITUDE

Dear COPMOBA Community, On behalf of the Board of Directors, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks you to our business sponsors, individual members, donors, volunteers, and all those who have supported COPMOBA throughout 2024. As a volunteer-driven organization with four active chapters—Grand Valley Trails, Delta Area Mountain Bikers, Montrose Uncompahgre Trails, and Ridgway Area Trails—our success is truly a community effort. We’re governed by a dedicated Board of Directors with the support of one coordinator. Your contributions of time, money, and energy make everything we do possible.

We’d also like to recognize our incredible community partners, including federal and state agencies, counties, municipalities, local businesses, and organizations. Trail planning and construction has become increasingly complex, costly, and time-consuming, and we could not achieve our goals without this ongoing collaboration. Building on the momentum from 2023, this year has been one of continued foundation-building for COPMOBA.

Some of the highlights include:

  • Hosting one of our most successful RAT Races yet

  • Organizing multiple Stoke Nights and social events across all four chapters

  • Grand Valley Trails (formerly Grand Valley Canyons) completing a successful rebrand

  • Completing 50 Dig Day/Trail Building events and contributing over 3,000 volunteer hours

  • Facilitating 6 miles of new, purpose-built singletrack, improving trail experiences across the Western Slope

A key achievement has been the near completion of the RAT expansion—nearly 5 miles of trail completed through a combination of volunteers, conservation corps members, and professional builders, supported by the Colorado Division of Parks and Wildlife and the Ridgway community. We also supported trail expansion efforts at 18 Road and Kokopelli, including the groundbreaking of the K2 Play trail at 18 Road, named in honor of our former coordinator, Kristina Kittelson, who was instrumental in promoting cycling in the Grand Valley. We are also thrilled to see the Delta Area Mountain Bikers chapter rejuvenated, and we are incredibly proud of these accomplishments and the hard work from all involved.

Looking ahead to 2025, we’re excited to welcome five new Board members to the organization and to continue improving our CRM database and membership software to better support our growing community. We’re confident that these changes will enhance your experience as a member and position COPMOBA for continued growth in the years to come. We are also eager to expand our partnerships with business sponsors and public land managers, strengthening our efforts to maintain existing trails and push forward on an exciting pipeline of new projects across our community-driven chapters.

As we look ahead to 2025, we are excited about the opportunities to continue supporting and strengthening the trails and mountain biking community here in western Colorado. If you'd like to learn more about COPMOBA's plans or explore ways we can collaborate in the coming year, please feel free to reach out or join us at one of our local chapter meetings. Thank you once again for your invaluable support. We look forward to an exciting year ahead and to working together to continue improving the trails and mountain biking opportunities across western Colorado.

Warm regards, COPMOBA Board President - John Howe
