Seasonal Closures in the Grand Valley

As of today, December 1st, a small set of trails in the Grand Valley are closed for seasonal wildlife closures. Seasonal Closures are from December 1 - May 1. These closures occur to protect essential landscapes for wildlife and are part of agreements negotiated with Colorado Parks and Wildlife and land managers to have the opportunity to build trails in beautiful landscapes.

Trails that have Seasonal Closures

  • Sarlaac

  • Skywalker

  • Cicada

  • Cloud City

  • Sarlector

  • Lane Mine

  • The Edge Loop

  • The Palisade Plunge from Mesa Top to Upper Palisade Rim Connector (not officially open, yet)

    • The Palisade Plunge from the Upper Palisade Rim Connector to the road will remain open as long as there is no riding above that point

    • Kannah Creek

    • Garvey Canyon, Post Canyon, and Lapham Canyon (full-sized roads)

    • multiple locations in Cactus Park

Regional Closures

Additionally, there are seasonal trail closures in other trail systems outside of the Grand Valley that are commonly frequented by riders from across the region:

  • Electric Hill Trail System (Montrose)

Respect Closure or Lose Trails

Respecting the Seasonal Closures are critical to maintain future access to the trails and to have the opportunity to build new trails.
